Detective Girl of the Steam City рассказывает о девушке, решившей пойти по стопам своего отца-детектива и тоже заняться расследованиями. Она принимает клиентов и раскрывает дела: от расследования жалоб старушки на дом с приведениями до миссий с рейтингом 18+. Информация о новых миссиях расположена на рабочем столе в доме главной героини. Присутствуют как основные сюжетные задания, так и мини-игры, которые заключаются в рпг-сражениях с бандитами. Кстати, в их логове можно обучиться взлому замков и шпионажу. Будут доступны и другие навыки, такие как красноречие или соблазнение. Прокачав их, можно будет избежать драк, заговорив зубы противнику, но тогда героиня лишится очков опыта и денег. Персонаж по мере развития сюжета встретит разных учителей. У некоторых мини-игр есть несколько вариантов прохождения, для некоторых необходим патч, снимающий цензуру.
Detective Girl of the Steam City предлагает множество предметов для апгрейда. Например, темную канализацию лучше проходить в очках ночного видения, с крюком-кошкой можно пробраться в труднодоступные локации, а усилить удары можно паровым кулаком. Атака последним напоминает магию, только вместо заклинаний используются насосные станции. Во время выполнения задания девушку могут изнасиловать. Также есть эротические сцены с боссами, чтобы их открыть, нужно проиграть противнику. Конечно, для дальнейшего продвижения по игре, придется вернуться в локацию снова и уже победить. Финал здесь не один, доступны 2 альтернативные концовки.

In this growing city with a huge population, there are many different kinds of people; industrialists, workers, merchants, and your average citizens.
However, within any big city, there are always criminals and conspiracies. The Steam City will need a detective on the case!
It’ll be up to Sophie to uncover the mysteries of the Steam City through her investigations.

Allure in learned in the brothel. The first skill requires reason 70 and you must go down the reason tiers to unlock skill 2 and 3.
Eloquence from the French Guy in the Hotel. You meet him at detective desk while your waiting for work. His quest involves a tour of the city and taking pictures with a camera.
Observation: Taught by detective Metcalfe. His house is west of the hotel, which is west of the Detective Office. I think you have to do the quest involving the Mole and the Bathhouse first. To be honest, I’m not even sure what Observation does.
Medicine: Taught by the doctors in or near the slums. You just need detective points to unlock them.
Lockpicking and Espionage: Taught by the gangsters on the 2nd floor of the Black Dog Hideout.
